Talk about sturdy and well made. These are of excellent quality and definitely hold place cards securely. I put in a place card and in another a name card to test them. In my fingers I twirled them to the left and the right. I then turned them upside down, which I doubt is the norm. The cards stayed in place, even though inserting them was very easy.
